Every Summer Has a Story

“So don’t be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens.  He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.  He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession” (James 1:16-18 NLT).

We have all heard the motivating catch phrases: There’s power in a plan! The first step to anything great is making a great decision! Well, even though it’s tempting to just swiftly dismiss a casual quote, there is a lot of truth and power in “seeing the end from the beginning”.  The biblical word for this is FAITH!

If we all lived life by default, just kicking back and hoping everything will work out in the end, we may not get what we really dream about.  However, if you decide what you want to “get” out of something ahead of time, there are scientific studies that reveal that there’s a 300% increase of success rate!  Maybe there actually is power to making a decision and implementing a plan!  God cares about you, your season, how you find comfort, and what satisfies your heart.  He knows what you need most.

Just like anything, there’s balance.  There’s nothing wrong with relaxing and feeling the peace of a summer breeze and sitting lazy on a patio chair and dipping our toes in a lake…(in fact, that sounds like a plan right there!) But if you’re anything like me, If I don’t plan for it, I will keep working, setting goals, and working some more, and before I know it, summer is over.

What is that “one thing” you want to do (or be) by the end of the summer? Invest in yourself, and give to others…both are important.  But ask God for a dream, and then make a decision.  You are His prized possession - you’re worth it!

EVERY SUMMER HAS A STORY.  What will yours be?

Today is my day to make some time to really think about my season of life, what resources I have (time, attention, days off, friends, family, books, energy, etc.) and the best way to use them. I acknowledge the good and perfect gifts that God has given me, and I thank Him for giving me His Word, His ideas and His dreams for my summer.

Happy Weekend to you!

Love Audrey

P.S.

We love to declare Fridays as “Fight for your Family Fridays”.  We are taking time today to pray for you, and your loved ones.  God is able to do the impossible!
