Begging Bread

“I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread” (Psalm 37:25).

I love the smell of fresh baked bread coming out of the oven.  As a young girl growing up, my parents pioneered an adventure when my father quit his job and we started the miraculous journey of “living by faith”.  Without knowing where the provision would come from, we relied completely on the source of our provision being God, and listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit.  Of course when I say “we”, it was really my parents!  I had no inclination that we were ever in lack.  And we weren’t!  And my mom always had enough flour to bake bread every day, and the aroma of that bread was comfort to my soul.

Comfort is an important of life.  Knowing the Holy Spirit as our comforter helps us to trust God our Father to be our provider.  We will never have to beg for bread!

What a comfort to know that as we (parents) walk in righteousness, God will see to it that our offspring have an ample supply of necessary natural provisions! There are extreme examples in Scripture that build our faith when it comes to God’s miraculous provision.  I love the account where God gives Joseph divine insight so that the needs of his family were met during seven years of famine!  What about the manna that came down from heaven during Israel’s wilderness journey?  What about the widow and her son, who were on the verge of starvation when Elijah prophesied that the meal barrel and the cruse of oil would never fail to produce?  Of course there is no more powerful example than Jesus multiplying the loaves and fishes and feeding the multitudes.  If He took care of His people then, He can definitely take care of us and our children now!

Today is my day to declare God as our provider!  I believe that even through hard times, I will always have sufficient provision.  I praise you for Father leading me into the right career decisions and job opportunities.  I thank you that the Holy Spirit is my comforter, and I receive your presence in peace knowing that you are my source.

Have a wonderful day my friend,

and enjoy a piece of hot fresh bread if you get a chance!

Love Audrey
